The Texas case, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was deliberately filed in the Amarillo division of the Northern District of Texas, a single-judge division where the federal cases are automatically assigned to the Trump-appointed Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk.
The decision on this motion could come at any moment, and could result in a nationwide ban on mifepristone- even in states where abortion is protected. This would potentially disproportionately impact blue states like New York who have worked hard to not only protect, but expand access.
